Nez Perce Trail (Lolo Trail) - ID. On September 15, Toby recognized his mistake and led the party back up the mountain to reconnect with the Nez Perce Trail. Getting back up to the trail was a torturous uphill climb over fallen trees and through thick underbrush. The terrible weather continued and there was very little food. This was pretty much the picture for the next seven days -- truly, the worst part of of the journey.
